Let's Try out this Blogging thing

It's been suggested by my mom that we try out this whole blogging thing so friends and family can follow us and more importantly Cooper through his childhood. I figured I had procrastinated enough with setting up the blog and no longer have an excuse since Cooper is in bed by 7:30 pm.

We have finally started settling into our new home in Thousand Oaks. Pictures will be posted soon. We are still in the process of unpacking and organizing. Things take 4x as long with a baby who requires all of your attention and does not take naps. AJ and I try to do some unpacking in the evening once Cooper goes to sleep. We have successfully unpacked and organized the nursery, our closet, kitchen, and family room. We still need to finish/ organize the office/ desk, move the pictures from our dining room and make the bed/ remove broken down boxes from the guest room and organize our bedroom. It's slowly coming together and we hope to have everything completed by next weekend.

Cooper is transitioning well to being out in California. He did fantastic on his airplane trip out here and is starting to sleep better throughout the night. We have started getting him in more of a routine with bed time and he eats every 2.5 to 3 hours per day. He has started sleeping longer at night in the pack n play and ranges from 7-11 hours. On February 2nd, he slept 11 hours straight and last night slept for 10 hours. He still does not like to nap unless it is on me, but our next goal to work on is napping in his crib and then transitioning him to sleeping in his crib at night. We are planning on moving him to his crib to sleep at night next weekend.

Cooper is currently 14 weeks old. He is changing everyday and continues to amaze both AJ and I. I was looking at pictures a few days ago and it's crazy how much he has grown. We are guessing he weighs close to 13 lbs. He goes in for his 4 month check up on February 16th and we are very excited to see how much he weighs.

Cooper's Development
Cooper loves to kick and move his arms when on his playmat. He can now consistently grab at the toys on the playmat. He loves looking at the lights and can track toys very well. Tummy time is something that he hates. He is still unable to lift his head to 45* and push up with his arms. He can tolerate tummy time for only 5 min at a time. We try and get it in a few sessions throughout the day but he fusses often. I have tried various techniques to encourage him to lift his head, and have had little luck. We have tried the boppy, placing a receiving blanket underneath his chest as well as encouraging him to look at me or at toys. We aren't sure if his stomach/gas or reflux is affecting his tummy time, so I'm looking forward to discussing this with the pediatrician at his check up.
Cooper's head control in supported sitting and with us carrying him has improved. He loves looking over our shoulder and seeing the world around him. He also loves being carried outwards so he can see the world. His head moves back and forth so quickly to try and see everything. I have begun putting him in the bumbo more consistently but he still requires some support from me for head support. He can only tolerate this for 5 minutes at a time.
Cooper and I go on walks every day. This is his favorite thing to do. He loves being out doors. We try and go for 1-2 walks/ day. We love having such fantastic weather here in California. I cannot wait for Cooper to get a little older to go to the parks and the pool.

I have joined a workout group called "stroller strides" with Cooper. It's a work out group that meets everyday (but cooper and I go 2-3x/week) where we do various workouts with our stroller. It's a great way for us to meet mommies and kids. Most of the kids are toddlers but we still have a good time.

AJ is doing well with work and is still getting in the groove of being an external wholesaler. He has a few overnight trips to Fresno/ Modesto. We miss having him here, but appreciate everything he is doing for us.

This is a quick update of what we have been up to, I will try and post more about Cooper's birth and what's been going on with us from October until now later.

Bella and Cooper
